Over two million households are living without an essential household appliance – like a cooker, fridge or washing machine. Whether it’s not owning a kitchen appliance at all, or the machine is broken or faulty, it’s not right that so many are living in appliance poverty.
If you, or someone you know is in this situation, please apply to our scheme for help and support.
Applications are assessed against eligibility criteria such as:
- Residence in Bromsgrove District;
- Households which include dependent children, one parent family, a person receiving care or support from the local authority, vulnerable person due to violence, homelessness or domestic abuse;
- In receipt of housing benefit, income support, income based Job Seekers Allowance, income related Employment and Support Allowance, Universal Credit;
- Experiencing exceptional financial difficulty;
- Experiencing a disaster or emergency, such as fire, flood, bereavement.
You must meet a number of the eligibility criteria to be successful.
The Scheme provides one large item plus homewares basics (if required), per application, from the following list:
- White goods – microwaves, electric cookers, fridges, fridge/freezers, microwaves, kettles, toasters, slow cookers and washing machines.
- Cookware basics
- Crockery & cutlery
- Bed linen packs
- Emergency room heaters.
All requests are considered on an individual basis with due account given to the vulnerability and personal circumstances of each applicant, and treated in strict confidence.
Applications for support from the scheme can be made by asking your support worker, housing officer, or similar, to make a referral. Alternatively, you can apply directly.
